Bobby Allison The Pilot
by Larry Goodwin

When people speak of Bobby Allison they immediately think of stock car racing. Most people today don't realize some of the other qualities of this individual. Bobby has always had a love for airplanes and flying. Bobby's first flight was in a little piper when he was about eight (8) years old. Bobby started learning how to fly a airplane in early 1967, he flew solo on May 5, 1967. Bobby has owned several different types of planes. His latest airplane is currently on display at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega. He is currently not flying.

During my interview Bobby was asked several questions about his airplanes and flying interest. I have started a list below which details several questions Bobby was recently asked. Pictures above include Bobby with his current airplane and Bobby taxing his plane down the race track, can anyone else say they have ever done this before? Please check back later as we continue to add to this list.

Question: Have you ever had a flying accident?
Bobby: I have come close on many occasions and fortunately was able to handle the situation and land safely, until this past January. I landed with the landing gear up and it tore up the engines but nobody was injured.

Question:
Will you get another plane or fix N312BA?
Bobby:
I haven't really made a decision at this time. I have several friends from whom I could borrow or lease a plane if I need one.
